Michelle Serrano Moeritz, 2005 Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Competition, is a young Cuban-American Soprano with unusual warmth and beauty of tone, which critics laud as “very reminiscing of the young Mirella Freni.” A musician of expansive artistry, she has received rave reviews as VERDI’S DESDEMONA as well as MOZART’S DONNA ELVIRA. Just as notable are her mesmerizing stage presence and depth of emotion. She has sung oratorio on renowned stages across the U.S. achieving great success in such works as the Brahms Requiem, the Verdi Requiem, and the Beethoven Missa Solemnus. Her concert schedule most recently led her to Italy where she appeared as the guest Soprano at the famed Ravello Music Festival.

Her repertoire also includes, but is not limited to, the title roles of SOUR ANGELICA, TOSCA, FIORDILIGI in COSI FAN TUTTE, LA CONTESSA ALMAVIVA in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, MIMI in LA BOHEME, DORETTA in LA RONDINE, LIU in TURANDOT, NEDDA in I PAGLIACCI, and MICAËLA in CARMEN. Once again showing her versatility, she performed the title role of DIDO in PURCELL’S DIDO AND AENEAS, about which The New York Times commented, “Ms. Serrano Moeritz sang Dido with complete regal grace.”

In addition to her operatic achievements, Ms. Serrano Moeritz is equally at home in the world of Musical Theater. Her credits include ELIZA DOOLITTLE in a New York Off-Broadway production of MY FAIR LADY and ALDONZA in a National Tour of MAN OF LA MANCHA. Ms. Serrano Moeritz has also been seen as NELLIE in SOUTH PACIFIC, JULIE in CAROUSEL, and MAGNOLIA in SHOW BOAT.

Michelle Serrano Moeritz holds a Masters of Opera Studies from the S.U.N.Y. Purchase Conservatory of Music. She received degrees in Voice and Theatre from the Catholic University of America. In 2008, Michelle Serrano Moeritz was a grant recipient of the prestigious Gerda Lissner Foundation Award and in 2006 Michelle Serrano Moeritz was a finalist in the Altamura/Caruso International Voice Competition. She was named a grant recipient by the Schyuler Foundation for Career Bridges in 2003 through 2005. Ms. Serrano Moeritz is also an accomplished solo and concert flautist.
